Defining Alive Day
An Alive Day is a term that has gained popularity in its use within the post 9/11 veteran community but transcends into the civilian community as well. By definition an alive day is considered the anniversary of the day when a veteran almost lost their life in combat or someone surviving a near-death event that had a major impact on the individual's life. While not always, often times these traumatic experiences result in lifelong physical and mental injuries or illnesses.

The History Of An Alive Day
As more post 9/11 veterans returned from war in the early 2000's having endured life-altering events, this "Alive Day" term was born. It was a term used to take back control over an experience where all control was taken. Some see it as a day where they triumphed in the face of their enemies, while others view it more painfully, as it represents a day of loss and tragedy. While this term and concept become popular among this veteran community, anyone can have an Alive Day as it is simply a day where you survived a near-death traumatic experience or severe illness that completely changed the trajectory of your life.
Claiming Your Alive Day
As you learn more about what an Alive Day represents, I believe there are many people in this world who have an Alive Day. A special anniversary that marks a day where their life was altered from traumatic injury or illness. I was drawn to the idea of branding Alive Day Apparel because I believe the concept of an Alive Day can connect people. By acknowledging and celebrating our strengths and the ability to endure and overcome major challenges in life we discover the best of the human spirit. We soon discover that we are much more alike than we are different in this world. Each life deserve celebrating. Especially those lives whom we almost lost, but by the grace of God and modern medicine survived.
